The short version: your family's kitchen is yours. We store what you add so the app works, we send scans to an AI to read them, and we don't sell, share, or snoop on any of it.

What we collect

Your account email, and the things your household adds to the app: recipes, pantry and fridge items, meal plans, and shopping lists. Photos you submit for scanning (recipe cards, receipts, shelves) are collected only to do the scan you asked for; photos you attach to a recipe are stored with that recipe.

How AI scanning works

When you scan a photo, receipt, or shelf, the image is sent to Anthropic's Claude API, which reads it and returns the text — a recipe, a list of groceries. That's the whole trip. Data sent to the API is not used to train AI models. The extracted results are saved to your household like anything you'd type by hand.

Who helps us run this

Supabase stores your data and handles sign-in. Vercel hosts the app. Anthropic powers the AI scanning. Resend delivers sign-in emails. Price checks send only your zip code and item names to Kroger's API and to published weekly-ad listings (Flipp); barcode scans send only the barcode number to Open Food Facts. None of them get your account details beyond what's listed here.

Counting how the app gets used

We use Vercel Web Analytics to see which screens people actually use, so we know what to fix next. It counts page views. It sets no cookies, follows nobody between websites, and keeps no profile of you — visitors are counted using a temporary hash that's thrown away after 24 hours. What it records is the screen you opened, roughly where in the world you are, and what kind of phone or browser you're on. Before anything is sent we strip the details out of the address: opening one of your recipes is recorded as "/recipes/[id]", never which recipe, and anything after a ? is dropped. It never sees your recipes, your lists, your kitchen, your name or your email.

What we don't do

No ads. No selling your data. No sharing it for marketing. No advertising or cross-site trackers. The only cookies are the ones that keep you signed in.

Your household is private

Everything you add is visible only to the people signed into your household. Other households can't see your recipes, your lists, or anything else — this is enforced at the database level, not just in the app.

Your control

You can edit or delete recipes, items, plans, and lists anytime in the app. To delete your account and everything in your household, email us and we'll do it promptly.

Kids

Our Kitchen is made for families to use together. Accounts belong to adults; kids join in through the household — that's the point of the kid-friendly recipes and glossary.
